Aug 10, 2018· I had it checked out. Transmission was "good" but Honda suggested I have the transmission flushed. Transmission people say never do that. I took it to a local shop and they found the Mass Air Flow Sensor was out. They replaced it. It helped the problem for a few weeks but now it back to being pretty bad again. Any ideas?
May 27, 2017· A good place to start would be a trip to Advance Auto. I was having MAF errors a while ago and I too was worried that I possibly had to purchase a new sensor. What i needed up doing is buying a can of CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor and cleaning my sensor with it. It''s around 8 or so it wouldn''t be a bad place to start.
The mass air flow sensor uses a heated wire (or film) beside which the inlet air flows. The wire is heated because it is run by an electric current. As the temperature of the wire increases, its electrical resistance increases. For this reason, the electrical current passing through the wire is limited to a maximum value.
mass air flow sensor codes might show up in the transmission control module and cause a harsh shift
Answer (1 of 3): Yes. If the MAF is faulty, the engine computer may be unsure how to properly control the turbo this is more applicable in a variable vane turbo than a wastegate, but can still apply. The issue may be cured with a new sensor, but if …
Answer: Can it cause a transmission problem? Well, it would easily be capable of causing erratic engine performance and operation. This erratic engine operation might possibly cause abnormal transmission shifting. However I don''t see it causing any long term problems with the transmission itself....
Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor NOTE: It is critical that the MAF sensor is mounted per the in structions below. Vehicle performance and/or driveability may be affected if it is not mounted as recommended. The mass air flow sensor must be installed in the induction system using the supplied MAF sensor mounting boss. The induction system should be 4 ...

Feb 22, 2021· The mass airflow sensor is a key sensor in your car. Your car has a lot of sensors, and this is just one that helps your car run properly. That brings up the question of can your car run without the mass air flow sensor? In this article, we will look at what happens when you disconnect the mass airflow sensor.

Oct 05, 2018· Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS) ... The Air Conditioner Sensor signals the PCM when the air condition is on or off. The AC switch will affect engine RPM at a stop. A malfunctioning AC switch can result in problems that feel as though they are transmission related. Transmission Range Sensor (TR)/ Transmission Position Sensor ...
Aug 06, 2019· The mass airflow sensor (commonly abbreviated to MAF) is one of the most important engine management sensors. A bad mass airflow sensor can leave your Ford F350’s engine running rough, or even inoperable. A MAF sensor measures the density of the air entering the intake manifold. It passes this information onto your F350’s ECU.
Apr 22, 2008· To answer directly, yes. A bad MAF sensor can affect a computercontrolled transmission if the transmission control computer uses the MAF signal to …
Oct 22, 2018· A bad mass air flow sensor won’t reliably measure the amount of air coming in through the air filter, resulting in a delay in the fuel delivery during sudden acceleration and a temporary lack of power. In such a scenario, the ECU will sense the drop in engine vacuum first and then using other sensors, will decide if more fuel is required.
The mass airflow sensor is the component used for detecting the flow of air that is entering the engine of a car. The airflow sensor collects details to determine the amount of needed fuel. After collecting the information, the details will be sent to the Engine Control Unit.
Oct 22, 2013· The MAF sensor is a critical sensor and is used in calculating what the transmission''s line pressure should be depending on engine load. If the MAF is messing up and causing the PCM to miscalculate engine load, it could damage the transmission. The MAF sensor can be tested with a volt meter or scope.
transmission. The air flow sensor is located directly in the intake air stream, between the air cleaner and throttle body where it can measure incoming air. There are different types of Mass Air Flow sensors. The vane air flow meter and Karmen vortex are two older styles of air flow sensors and they can be identified by their shape. The newer,
MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR INVESTIGATION. No dealership or service provider, when contacted, has ever been able to provide us with evidence to support this "myth," and in fact, our investigations have revealed that even authorized dealerships are simply speculating and do not have the test equipment necessary to know whether the sensor has failed or why.
Sep 16, 2020· The average MAF sensor replacement cost is between 140 and 550, depending on the car model and labor costs. A Mass Air Flow Sensor costs 100 and 400 while the labor costs 40 to 150. The MAF sensor itself is often quite expensive, as you sometimes have to replace the whole MAF sensor housing.
Mass air flow sensor problems Problems mass air flow sensors are very common. The MAF sensor could get contaminated or damaged. Often this happens when an old or improperly installed air filter allows some unfiltered air into the engine or when oil from an oilsoaked air filter contaminates the air flow sensor.
Jul 26, 2010· If the mass airflow sensor under estimates the volume of air, the engine will experience an extremely lean condition and discharge a very high exhaust temperature. If the MAF over estimates the volume of air entering the engine, the engine will experience a rich exhaust and emit lower than normal exhaust temperatures.
Oct 12, 2021· Consequently, a dangerous mass air circulation sensor causes numerous driveability issues, together with a nostart, stalling, lack of energy and poor acceleration. A drawback with the air circulation sensor might additionally alter the shifting sample of the automated transmission. Click on to see full reply.
